We love being in the business of good travel news. We recently reported that Kauai is reopening in April, Greece plans to reopen in May, and now the Seychelles are abolishing their entry quarantine and reopening to tourism next week with no vaccine required! Read on to learn more.

Details

For those that are not familiar with the Seychelles, it is an island state in the Indian Ocean off East Africa and is known for being absolute paradise. Think: white sand beaches, crystal clear blue waters abundant with colorful sea life. It is no wonder that the Seychelles are the Maldives biggest rival in terms of tourism.

New Regulations

According to the Seychelles state news agency, travelers will no longer have to go into quarantine after March 25, 2021. Instead, a negative PCR test, which was carried out 72 hours before departure at the earliest, is sufficient (travelers who have already been vaccinated still need this, by the way).

The minimum number of nights in the accommodations will also be abolished on the same date. The mask requirement in most public buildings and means of transport continues for the time being and tourists are still only allowed to book certified accommodations, which can be found here.

Successful Vaccination Campaign

This easing was probably made possible mainly by the fact that the Seychelles are making great strides in vaccination. 81% of the population have already been vaccinated against the coronavirus (24% also with the second dose). This puts them in second place in the world behind Israel.

Return Rules Still Apply

Since the Seychelles are currently still recording around 30 to 70 new infections per day, which quickly leads to high incidences in such a small country, the islands are still considered a high-incidence area on the RKI list. Please note that entry back into the US still requires your to submit a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before arrival.
