Great news, pirates. We know how much you love a good deal and we've been seeing some great deals lately with flights to Hawaii. Starting next month, you'll have even more flexibility in terms of which islands you can visit. The island of Kauai is rejoining Hawaii's Aloha State's Safe Travels program on April 5th. The program allows visitors to skip quarantine if they present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of arrival.

Details

Why is Kauai Reopening?

While Hawaii's Safe Travels program has been in effect since October of last year, Kauai decided to opt-out of the program last December for fear that travelers would bring more cases of COVID-19 to the island. Luckily, the break from tourism has allowed Kauai time to vaccinate its own citizens within the hospitality and health sectors.

Who Can Go?

All travelers (ages five and over) who submit a Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) from testing partners approved by the Hawaii Department of Health within 72 hours of arrival are free to enter without quarantining. You can find the official list of places where visitors can get tested before traveling to Hawaii here. Travelers who don't have test results can still visit Hawaii, they just need to quarantine for 10-days.

Unfortunately, if you've already been vaccinated you won't be able to skip any testing protocols. However, Hawaii is looking to develop a vaccine passport for tourists in the future.
