We've seen numerous places around the world offer money to get people to move there — from West Virginia to Italy it seems like almost everywhere is doing this. But not everywhere is offering $10,000 and a bike for very reasonable conditions.

To learn more about why it might be worth considering a (temporary) move to Northwest Arkansas, read on!

Details

Northwest Arkansas is making a big investment in getting remote workers to move there, with $10,000 in your choice of bitcoin or cash and a brand-new street or mountain bike on offer. As an alternative to the bike, you can also opt for an annual membership to one of their (self-proclaimed) world-class art or cultural institutions.

This part of Arkansas is said to have over 10,000 job openings and per capita income that's 14% higher than the national average. With Ozark National Forest taking up a lot of space in Northwest Arkansas, it's definitely got potential to be a great spot for nature lovers.

It's clear that Northwest Arkansas wants to transform itself until a more economically appealing place, but one's gotta wonder where the money is coming from. According to the Finding Northwest Arkansas website; "the initiative is sponsored by the Northwest Arkansas Council and made possible by philanthropic support from the Walton Family Foundation at the recommendation of Steuart Walton and Tom Walton." Yes, they're from the same family that owns Walmart.

Am I applying for this? No, but I certainly see how lots of pirates might consider this. Moreover, as per the wording I found on the website, it looks like you only need to live and work in Northwest Arkansas for at least 12 months to get the $10,000 and bike. With pretty low living costs, you could probably save a bundle temporarily relocating from expensive cities.

The main requirements are as follows:
