We’ve recently posted a lot of remote working opportunities abroad in fantastic places like Mauritius, Helsinki, and Dubai. If they’ve piqued your interest, but you would prefer to stay within the continental US, then we might just have something for you. What if we also told you that you could earn $12,000 by moving to a new destination, state-side? Sound like something you would be in to? Keep reading for more details!

Details

The state of West Virginia has announced a new program for remote workers called "The Ascend WV", which offers individuals who move there $10,000 during their first year and $2000 during the second. Each remote worker will be allowed a free co-working space and the opportunity to attend events to connect with other entrepreneurs during their stay. They also will have the opportunity to earn certificates through the West Virginia University if they so choose.

“We are rolling out the red carpet and inviting remote workers from across the country to make Almost Heaven, West Virginia their home,” says West Virginia governor, Jim Justice.

As more and more young people continue moving out of expensive cities due to the pandemic and/or financial reasons, this outdoorsy state has become an appealing new option. West Virginia, known for its beautiful scenery, is the perfect place for outdoor-lovers. In addition to the remote-working package, the state is also offering recreation package for participants which encourages a healthier work/life balance. The package includes more than $1,200 worth of free outdoor gear rentals and access to over 1,500 miles of public trails, rock-climbing routes, and national parks.

If you're wondering by now what the catch is, don't be too concerned. The state is asking that eligible applicants must either currently work remotely or have the ability to work remotely full-time while living in Wes Virginia in order to be qualified. They also must be willing to relocated to the designated area within six months of acceptance, and be legal US citizens.
