Most people have a Netflix subscription or a membership to their favorite gym, but a monthly subscription to an airline? That's something different and exciting!
Alaska Airlines is now offering an annual subscription-based service to and from destinations on the West Coast. With plans ranging from $49 to $749 a month, or 6 to 24 round-trip flights a year.

How Flight Pass Works
Valid for flights to and from 16 airports on the West Coast (full list at the bottom of the page). Those who sign up for the Alaska Airlines Flight Pass program will be required to make a 12-month commitment for one of the two annual pass options listed below. Monthly charges will then automatically be credited to their debit/credit card on file. The monthly deducted price is dependent upon their pass option along with any add-ons.
With each pass, you'll get a main cabin seat for free. Premium seats can be purchased as an additional fee. You'll also be entitled to free changes.
Standard Flight Pass
At a $49 flat monthly rate, customers will have an option to book one round-trip flight every other month, booking at the latest, 14 days prior to the scheduled departure.
Add-Ons
+$50 you can book one round-trip flight every month.
+$140 you can book two round-trip flights a month
Flight Pass Pro
At $199 a month, customers have an option to book 1 round trip flight every other month and can make their booking up to 2 hours before a scheduled departure.
Add-Ons
+$200 you can book one round-trip flight every month.
+$550 you can book two round-trip flights every month.
Both plans are subject to taxes and airport fees.
Why this Might Be a Good Deal
We feel this may be a great deal because regardless of the quoted flight price you get when you go to book, you will just have to pay the monthly flat-rate fee.
For instance, if you pay monthly fees at the lowest rate ($49) which in total amounts to around $600 a year, and let's say you fly LAS-SFO once every other month paying $99 round trip through the pass. Overall, you'll end up saving around $300 a year, in comparison to the normal $150 fare you'd most likely pay without it. Just remember bookings with the basic standard flight pass have to be made no later than 14 days before your scheduled departure.
However, If you don't plan to make regular trips and feel as if you won't use up the allotted six flights on the Standard Flight Pass, then you'd probably be better off booking your tickets another way. Since once you commit to the subscription you are tied to it for that full year.
