Thailand Legalizes Cannabis!

Will smoking pot attract new tourists to Thailand and cement Bangkok as the new Amsterdam?

Thailand was the first Southeast Asian country to take steps and changes to the narcotics law during the pandemic — the cultivation, sale, and consumption of cannabis was partially legalized.

Politicians in the country also see this step as an incentive to bring additional money into the nation after the pandemic crisis.

However, the cannabis currently sold will not give you a real "high" at the moment, as the permitted limit for THC, the substance that triggers intoxication, is just 0.2%. Higher levels of weed remain illegal for the time being. The products are instead being marketed for their CBD.

In larger cities such as Bangkok, you can already find everything from weed-infused sushi menus to brownies at vegan cafes. There has been a real boom around weed lately. You can get a good overview on the following page.
