The drive from Mexico City to Tolantongo is pretty straightforward. You can rent a car and drive around three-and-a-half hours north. Or you can travel with a bus and taxi combination.

We found a car rental for the duration of the trip for $24 in total! We recommend always doing further research on the car company you choose to use. It also should be noted that the road near Tolantongo is said to be filled with lots of twists and turns.
