Step Two: Book TrainA new and fancy long-distance (near 1,000-mile) train route through Mexico has been in operation since late 2023, offering 34 routes through five Mexican states, circling the popular Yucatan Peninsula. This has made traveling through Mexico between top locations like Cancún, Tulum, Bacalar, Playa del Carmen, and Chichén Itzá more accessible than ever. The train is modern, offering air conditioning and regular, comfy seating in Tourist Class or more luxurious options like Premier Class with more legroom. Some of the longer journeys also offer sleeper cabins. You can easily connect to the train through free shuttle services from airports like Cancún.
