There Will Be a Lagoon, Shopping, Dining, Entertainment, and a Beach Water Park!
Yes, you read the headline correctly; Disney is building a residential community where you can actually LIVE. We must warn you that Mickey Mouse won't be your doorman, so we will have to reassess our expectations.
The residences are being built in California initially. However, Disney has plans to create "storyliving" communities across the United States to allow everyone to have a chance to enjoy the "Disney experience."
The first new neighborhood being built by Disney will be in Palm Springs, which is actually a place where Walt Disney himself owned a home.
The development will cover a wide range of homes with everything from estates to single-family homes and even includes a section for residents 55 and over, otherwise known as the young at heart.

The residence is planned to center around a grand oasis featuring clear turquoise waters with Crystal Lagoons® technology. We've no idea what technology that is, but we just instantly know we want it.

And you may be surprised to learn that this isn't Disney's first foray into home building. The media empire has already got a community near the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Disney is also thinking big picture about this, with plans to create a waterfront clubhouse, a club-only beach area, and host recreational water activities. Meanwhile, on dry land, residents can enjoy wellness activities and entertainment ranging from live performances to cooking classes, philanthropic endeavors, and seminars. There will also be a town center with open markets, restaurants, and artisan shops.

As Disney Parks chairman Josh D’Amaro says in a statement "We can’t wait to welcome residents to these beautiful and unique Disney communities where they can live their lives to the fullest."
