The search for a new owner for the northernmost bar is now underway - the Svalbard Pub is a place where you can not only enjoy a drink, but also see the northern lights, and maybe even polar bears will visit you!

Details

Pronounced Sval-bird, the Norwegian archipelago lies between mainland Norway and the North Pole. Known as one of the world's northernmost inhabited areas, it's pretty remote — in fact, polar bear numbers are higher than the human population, which is around 2500 - 3000 people.

The untouched arctic nature, polar bears and the northern lights dancing in the winter sky attract many tourists here every year.

A Unique Opportunity

For those who are looking to relocate to somewhere unique, Svalbard could be your answer. Svalbard is part of the Kingdom of Norway but is subject to its own independent authorities. Since 1925, a treaty has been put in place that indicates the islands are entirely a visa-free zone. That means there are no travel or work restrictions, and there is no visa requirement for foreigners who wish to live or work in Svalbard.

This makes for an exciting opportunity for our adventurous pirates out there!

Located in the heart of Longyearbyen is Svalbard Pub. The cozy pub, which is near several hotels and is a natural hotspot for locals and visitors alike, is now for sale and you can buy it!

The restaurant is modern and bright with a full kitchen and space for 18 tables and 90 seats. Over the past few years, it has shown profitability and forecasts indicate that revenues are to continue to grow.

How to Reach Svalbard

For those looking to just visit the island, the cheapest way to go is to first fly to Oslo and then to Svalbard. It will take around 3 hours from Oslo to reach this unique destination.

Perfect for nature lovers, as well as the polar bears, there is a wealth of Arctic animals to be spotted like walruses and several species of whales. Technically a desert, the wild terrain means that one is required to be armed when you're not in a town or settlement - polar bears shouldn't be messed with!
