Welcome to Båtholmen Island in Norway. Just a two-hour drive away from Oslo, this small private island is located in the archipelago of sunny Hvaler.
Located on the island is small cabin that is around 107 ft². The cabin contains a small double bed and an additional double bed in the loft. The space is small, but it can accommodate one family of five or four adults comfortably. There is also the option of adding fold-aways and floor mattresses to accommodate up to 7 guests.
There is a small outhouse in addition to the cabin as well as a small side building containing a kitchen.
Before you start thinking how renting a private island is going to be totally glam, it's not always the case. This island doesn't have running water!
However, drinking water is available from the local grocery store free of charge. Electricity comes via solar panels, and you'll have access to a solar paneled USB charger that you can use to power your phone or iPad. If you want a cozy movie night in bed, you'll be able to watch movies. The cabin has Wi-Fi as well, so you can still add to your Instagram feed.
There are some books, board games and candles for that cozy cabin feeling, and the kitchen is equipped with the utensils you need to make a home-cooked meal. Outside, in the garden, there is a fire pit that doubles as a barbecue spot as well.
The island has small private beaches at low tide, plenty of bare rock-face. Best of all, the island comes with its own boat that you can use to explore all the local islands and inlets, including the national park of Hvaler.
Båtholmen is a great for children; they will enjoy swimming in the straight or lounging on the floating dock and boats have a strict speed limit.
The island is available to rent from $38 per person for groups of eight or $249 for going solo and comes with its own boat to use. If you book early, you can receive an early-bird booking discount!
