You may be familiar with the reviews of hotels, restaurants or attractions ... but even entire islands can be rated!

Which islands do you think do better than malls with Google users? We simply entered around 150 islands around the world and created this list of the top rated finds. Under this condition we found exactly three islands that have 4.9 stars, sharing first place.

If you find another with 4.9 or even 5.0 stars (with> 100 ratings) that we haven't even thought of yet, please write us in the comments!

Details

1. Pulau Padar, Indonesia

The uninhabited island of Padar is part of the Komodo National Park. It is usually reached from Labuan Bajo (on Flores) as part of tours lasting several days, on which diving and snorkeling stops are made (good chances of mantas) and you can see the famous Komodo dragons on the island of the same name. On the island itself, you actually only undertake a hike to the well-known viewpoint from the photo.

2. Flores, Azores, Portugal

"Portal to paradise", "Beautiful green island with friendly inhabitants", "The most beautiful spot on earth I have visited so far" ... are some of the statements in the Google reviews. In general, the landscape and the tranquility - apart from the mass tourism - only 3,800 people live here and flights here are often canceled due to bad weather.

3. Bartolome, Galapagos, Ecuador

The uninhabited island is one of the youngest in the Galapagos Archipelago and can only be visited as part of day trips or shore excursions on multi-day tours. From the highest point of the island you can enjoy the most famous view of the islands, of the Pinnacle Rock and the double bay. In the sea you can snorkel with marine iguanas and penguins.

These islands have been voted "Best Island in the World" in 2020 by other organizations and travel magazines:

  • Travel + Leisure: Palawan (reader survey)

  • Condé Nast Traveler: Tasmania (reader poll)

  • Tripadvisor: Crete (average rating)

  • Word Travel Awards: Madeira (expert jury)

The winners of the last few years there included: Siargao, Boracay, Sri Lanka, Java, Bali and Maui.
