US Travelers Can Entire Thailand Quarantine-Free Once Again—Here's What We Know!

As the world opens up around us, much of Asia has stayed closed to US tourists. Now, though, Thailand is changing that and has officially opened up quarantine-free to US travelers as of today, November 1st.

Obviously, you'll need to fully-vaccinated to take advantage of this new policy, and there are a few more simple requirements that we've outlined for you below.

Details

According to the Royal Thai Embassy, the main rules for quarantine-free entry for travelers from the US (and 45 other countries) are as follows:

  • Full vaccination means you waited an additional 14 days after your final vaccine dose

  • All travelers require medical insurance coverage of at least $50,000

  • A negative RT-PCR test no more than 72 hours before travel and another after arrival, most travelers should be able to get the first one through insurance in the US, and the test in Thailand can generally be booked with your hotel for a minimal rate

  • All travelers must install a tracking app on their smartphone

  • A booking for at least one night at an SHA+ hotel (see below for our favorite in Bangkok)

  • Keep in mind that you can't board a domestic flight the same day of arriving at an international flight

A great option for the obligatory night's stay is the 5-star Marriott Marquis Queen's Park, you can take care of a comfy stay, your second PCR test, and your transfer from the airport for about $170. Think of how little that'd get you back in the US!

As far as flights go, we've seen some of the best airlines in the world like Singapore offer rates from $669 (often even less from the West Coast):
