Pirates, we've found a very special place, that all wannabe witches and wizards should pay pilgrimage to.

Yup, you can actually stay at the childhood home of Harry Potter, as depicted in the movie adaptation. The Godric's Hollow cottage is available to rent on Airbnb, and it's just as magical as we could have imagined.

Destination

  • Lavenham
  • United Kingdom

Details

The property, De Vere House, is located in the medieval village of Lavenham in Suffolk, England and is surrounded by hundreds of other historic and protected medieval cottages.

As Potterheads will know, Godrick's Hollow was the place where Harry Potter encountered Lord Voldemort for the first time - but thankfully, this house has a less grisly history. The house was originally a 14th-Century hall house and hunting lodge, owned by the de Vere family - who were extremely wealthy wool traders.

Inside, there are two four-poster bedrooms, with en suite bathrooms. There is a cozy reading room with a log fire and a courtyard garden.

The house also has some unique features, such as a stone spiral staircase and a number of rare medieval paintings

Below is the John de Vere room, one of two rooms available. Check out that four-poster bed!

The imposing oak front door is rich in history, with emblems denoting the De Vere family and their conflict during the Wars of the Roses.

Prices for this accommodation start at $249 per night, however, this doesn't include Airbnb taxes and other fees which brings the total cost to $291 per night. Split between two people averages about $145 per person. We feel this price is worth it considering you'd be experiencing Harry Potter heritage firsthand. A proper full English breakfast (veggie options also available) is included in the price.
