Cellular carriers AT&T and Verizon started the rollout process for their 5G technology in many cities. As a response, several major airlines are canceling flights fearing a catastrophic effect of 5G on the operation of some of their aircrafts.

Due to the effects, this technology could have on the airplane radars, especially during landings with low visibility, AT&T and Verizon agreed to delay these rollouts within a 2-mile radius of runways.

Some airlines which had originally canceled their scheduled flights to the US, like Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways, will be restarting services starting today. Interestingly, only non-US airlines have canceled their flights for now.

Several aircraft models have been given certification to fly safely with the 5G rollouts, but many more are still waiting on safety confirmations.
