INSANE Oil Rig Theme Park Due to Open in Saudi Arabia

The Colossal Park Will Have Rollercoasters, Submarine Rides, Swimming Pools, and Hotels!

Pirates, you know we love to share wild places from across the world - but even for us, this is a bit extra!

The Rig is a brand new tourist attraction - inspired by an offshore oil rig. The floating theme park, hotel and adventure sports hub will be located in the Arabian Gulf: only accessible by cruise ship or helicopter.

Update: As of Januray 14 2024, a masterplan has been revealed for 'THE RIG' and it looks like development is well underway. The project will be developed by the Oil Park Development Company (OPDC) under the direction of its CEO, Raed N. Bakhrji - this is truly set to become a reality, how exciting!

The Rig will be spread over a staggering 1.6 million-square-feet - with space for 50 boats in its marina and HELIPADS 🚁

Adventure junkies are apparently champing at the bit to go to the Rig. And with helipads, bungee jumping, skydiving, go-karting, zip-lining, jet skiing and even submarine rides on offer, it's not hard to see why.

Not sure if it's just us, but this look is seriously reminding us of post-apocalyptic 90s flick Waterworld, starring Kevin Costner...

The Rig is planned to have three hotels and 11 restaurants, interlinked by connecting platforms. Because dining underwater next to whales every single night would start to get dull without some variety - right?

You can be sure that in the middle of the ocean you'll get some pretty decent sunset snaps too, if nothing else.

The rooms are expected to showcase that 'oil rig chic' that's so hot right now.

We've tried to interpret the below pic, but all we could think was it looked like a New Year's eve-themed drone battle - though we stand to be corrected.

There is no expected opening date yet, but you can be sure as soon as it opens up, there will a very long line of people waiting to experience this insane floating theme park.
