This kind of place is usually something you only dream about: wake up in the middle of a misty Mayan forest, head to the backyard for a swim in your own private cenote, and follow up with a cup of domestically-grown coffee (or maybe cacao). It's a rarity to find such a unique experience for an equally great price!

Details

Let's go back a bit: "what is a cenote?" you might ask! Well, it's a natural body of fresh water formed in limestone rock, that's particularly common in the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. The water in a cenote is often very clear. Cenotes were the primary source of water for the Mayans, some had an important ritual role, and it was believed that these wells led to the afterlife. Today, you can visit and also swim in them.

The accommodation we found is located in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. This is the kind of place where you can perfectly relax and disconnect from the world around you — if you want internet, you'll need to use your data. For us, that's pretty awesome, but it's definitely good to know that almost all plans include coverage in Mexico. Make sure to check — otherwise, a temporary SIM is easy to get with some data for less than $10.

This place is completely surrounded by nature, but has all the amenities to make your stay comfy-cozy. The cottage has a private dining room, two bathrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, a barbecue, a dining room, a living room and of course a PRIVATE CENOTE! You can also rent a bike on site.

If you bring five friends along, you can stay here from $39 a night! For an experience like this, it's really great price, and $100s less a night than other private experiences you can find around the Yucatán Peninsula.
