What will this look like in practice?

CHILE

Entry requirements from October 1, 2021:

  • Negative PCR test no older than 72 hours prior to departure, counting from last boarding time on flights with stopovers.

  • Full vaccination. Vaccines must be approved by the Chilean Institute of Public Health (ISP), the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the European Medicines Agency (EMA), so all the vaccines in use in the United States are fine.

  • You will need to fill out a "Declaration for Travelers" form online, up to 48 hours before your departure, in which you provide your contact info, health info, and travel details. There is a QR code on the form needed for verification. The form is available at www.c19.cl.

  • Anyone entering Chile must remain in mandatory isolation for five days. This mandatory isolation must be carried out in a previously declared house, hotel or residence.

  • You must have medical insurance for min. 30,000 USD, which covers any expenses caused by Covid-19.

  • For 14 days after entering the country, the visitor will receive a daily follow-up form at their email address, which must be completed and returned by the deadline.

You can find more information at chile.travel.

ARGENTINA

Entry requirements for foreigners entering Argentina from November 1, 2021:

  • You must have been fully vaccinated for at least two weeks prior to arrival in Argentina.

  • Negative PCR test result 72 hours prior to travel.

  • Unvaccinated individuals will be required to undergo an antigen test upon entry, undergo a 7-day quarantine, and take a PCR test on day 7.

  • Once 50% of the Argentine population is fully vaccinated, the obligation of the antigen test at entry (except for unvaccinated persons) and the PCR test on day 5-7 will be cancelled. They're currently just a few percentage points away, so this should be in the next month or two.

You can find more information at the Argentine Ministry of Health's website.
