Details
Australia has had some of the world's strictest border controls during the pandemic. Now, the country has announced that borders will be opening to vaccinated tourists and other [vaccinated] visa holders from February 21st, 2022.
Who can go and how?
Vaccinated travelers can enter Australia under the following conditions:
They will need to provide proof of vaccination.
As well as an Australia Travel Declaration (ATD) form filled in at least 72 hrs prior to departure.
Finally, they'll need to provide a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) taken 24 hrs prior to the scheduled departure or a PCR test taken 3 days prior to scheduled departure.
Unvaccinated travelers can enter Australia under the following conditions:
Proof of medical exemption is required if you're unvaccinated.
As well as an Australia Travel Declaration (ATD) form filled in at least 72 hrs prior to departure.
They'll also need a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) taken 24 hrs prior to the scheduled departure or a PCR test taken 3 days prior to scheduled departure.
On a final and important note, they will have to undergo hotel quarantine if granted permission to enter the country.
Visa
Tourists traveling to Australia will have to apply for a tourist visa here.
US citizens can apply for a tourist visa to Australia online for free.
Arrival caps?
Just something to be aware of, pirates. There are caps on the numbers of passengers coming into Australian airports from overseas. This is to ease pressure on state and territory quarantine facilities.
The Home Affairs Minister said international travelers would "be subject on their arrival here to the relevant state and territory quarantine requirements".
