Walk the Walls and Climb the Tower at This Adults-Only Mountain Escape
We know you all love hotels that feel like a full-on experience, and sleeping inside a castle surrounded by North Georgia fall color definitely qualifies. 🍂🏰
This white-turreted castle just outside Helen looks like it was dropped into the North Georgia mountains, and fall makes the whole setting even better. Uhuburg Castle (rated 4.8/5 on Tripadvisor as an attraction) lets overnight guests stay in individually decorated castle chambers and explore the walls, towers, gardens, and common spaces throughout their stay. Rooms currently start from $284 per night, but there’s an important catch: every stay requires a two-night minimum, and only a small number of chambers are available to book. We found a handful of two-night openings this fall, including dates in October, November, and December.
Availability here is very limited. Uhuburg requires at least two nights, and the property currently accepts overnight reservations Wednesday through Saturday nights through the end of December.
Once the daytime visitors head home, overnight guests get the fun part: actually staying in the castle for a couple of nights. You can wander the walled grounds, climb the towers, explore the murals, or head back to your chamber for mountain views and, in select rooms, a private balcony.
Breakfast is included each morning, along with an evening dessert or snack, and the lack of TVs feels surprisingly appropriate for a place that encourages guests to spend their evenings stargazing instead
You’re actually sleeping inside a Renaissance-inspired castle, not just visiting one for the afternoon.
Overnight guests have access to the castle grounds throughout their stay.
Rooms start from $315 per night.
Complimentary breakfast and an evening dessert or snack are included.
Select chambers have private balconies and mountain or garden views.
The castle is only about one mile from Helen, making it easy to pair with a fall weekend in Georgia’s Bavarian-inspired mountain town.
Fall might be the prettiest time to see the castle, with the surrounding Blue Ridge foothills changing color.
The rooms don’t feel like generic hotel rooms. Each chamber has its own décor, carved furniture, and personality.
Having the walls, gardens, and towers available during your overnight stay makes this feel much more immersive than a regular hotel.
It’s close enough to Helen to enjoy Oktoberfest, restaurants, and the town, but the castle itself feels tucked away from everything.
Two-night minimum stay required.
Friday and Saturday nights must be booked together.
Overnight guests must be 18 or older.
Wi-Fi is available, but there are no televisions in the guest chambers or common areas.
Availability is limited and can change quickly.
Rates vary by chamber
