Stay inside Tikal National Park in a private room at Jungle Lodge Tikal Hostel from $53. Having slept inside the park myself, I can tell you it's not an experience you'll soon forget. At night you can hear the howler monkeys in the forest around you. They sound more like dinosaurs than monkeys.

Tikal was my favorite of all the Mayan, Aztec, and Incan archeological sites in Central America. It is set in the jungle and feels more preserved than Chichen Itza due to this. There is also more to explore than at sites like Tulum.
