History-wise, the construction of Château Rhianfa during 1849-1851 was inspired by sketches of the châteaus of the Loire Valley. Sir John Hay-Williams set about building this masterpiece to please his wife and daughters. Which probably meant he was never in the dog house again as long as he lived.
