Historic Arizona Ranch Stay for 3 from $350/Night
If seeing wild horses along a desert river sounds like your kind of Arizona vacation, this historic ranch puts you right along the Salt River where they’re known to roam. 🐎🌵
Wake up surrounded by Tonto National Forest, with the Salt River running past the property and mountain views beyond the cabins. Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch (rated 4.8/5 on Tripadvisor) is a historic 20-cabin ranch that feels surprisingly removed from the Phoenix area, with horseback riding, hiking, river activities, and an outdoor pool all part of the experience. For families or small groups, the cabin pricing is especially appealing. We found stays for up to 3 guests from $350 per night, with a 2-night minimum.

The wild horses are what really caught our attention here. The ranch offers kayaking and paddleboarding on the Salt River, where guests may spot wild horses along the riverbanks, plus guided horseback riding right from the ranch and desert trails just outside your door.
The Lower Salt River is well known for its wild horse population, with horses regularly roaming an 18-mile stretch of the river near Saguaro Lake. Add mornings at the ranch, afternoons by the pool, and evenings surrounded by desert instead of city lights, and this feels like a pretty memorable Arizona getaway.
