This Adults-Only Zanzibar Retreat Has Private Pools and Is Steps From the Beach 🌴

Palm trees, thatched roofs, tropical gardens and a curving turquoise pool give Kai Zanzibar Hotel & Spa (rated 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor) the kind of island-resort look that makes you want to immediately check your PTO balance. This adults-only boutique stay is tucked away in Nungwi on the northern tip of Zanzibar, with the powdery white sands and turquoise water of Nungwi Beach just a short walk away. There's also a full spa, restaurant, bar and fitness center, so you can very easily spend your vacation alternating between the beach, pool and massage table.

We found autumn rates from $344 per night for two people, which works out to about $172 per person, per night before taxes and fees.

🏴‍☠️ Pirate Tip: Nungwi is situated away from the cruise crowds of Stone Town but still close enough to some of the island's best seafood restaurants and sunset bars, several within a 15-minute walk of the hotel. It's also one of the better home bases for scuba diving and dhow boat trips, so it's worth planning at least one day on the water while you're there.
