Could we be any more excited? A real-life Central Perk Coffeehouse is opening in Times Square, bringing all the feels from Friends to the heart of NYC.
It’s the second location of the now-officially-a-thing coffeehouse brand, and it’s set to become the ultimate hangout for fans, coffee lovers, and tourists who know what “pivot!” means without needing context.
Oh. My. God! The NYC café is being brought to life by the same team behind the Boston location, including Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio and award-winning architects Glen & Co. The result is a space that’s totally modern, but still filled with that familiar Central Perk feeling.
It’s not a replica — it’s a real coffee shop. But you’ll definitely recognize touches from the show, like the Orange Sofa Room, inspired by the famous couch where the gang spent, let’s be honest, a suspicious amount of time for people with jobs.
The space will also showcase artwork by pop artist Burton Morris, whose vibrant pieces appeared throughout the original series, adding another authentic nod for die-hard fans who’ll spot the connection instantly.
Central Perk Coffeehouse will officially open its first New York City location on Friday, December 5, at 20 Times Square (NE corner of 7th Ave & 47th St).
The menu will feature artisanal coffee drinks and a series-inspired food menu created with Colicchio’s input, so expect more than just your average latte. Highlights include his NYC-exclusive hero sandwich, The Tribbiani, and playful NYC-exclusive drinks inspired by the series — like The One with NYC Matcha (a strawberry-matcha cheesecake–inspired latte) and the NY Relaxi Taxi Tall Iced Cooler (a lavender-infused iced green tea and lemonade).
No word yet on whether Rachel’s trifle made the cut (y’know… with ladyfingers, jam, beef sautéed with peas and onions…), but we’re hopeful for at least one menu item named after a character.
The café will also serve Central Perk Coffee Co. blends — the same six roasts you can already find online or at select H-E-B stores. They come in ground, whole bean, and compostable capsules. And yes, you can also order them on Amazon with free shipping.
The NYC shop will carry location-exclusive merch you won’t find anywhere else. From mugs to hoodies to the kind of tote bag Rachel would 100% carry on her way to Central Perk (probably late, with coffee already in hand).
Friends is still airing locally on WPIX-TV in NYC and streaming on HBO Max, which means you’ve got plenty of time to brush up on your favorite episodes before the Times Square café opens its doors.
If you’re doing a rewatch (and let’s be honest, you probably are), add these personal favorites to your list:
The One That Could Have Been (parts 1 & 2) and The One with the Proposal (also a two-parter, what can I say, I love a dramatic arc).
Central Perk Coffeehouse will officially open on Friday, December 5.
