The Cheapest USA Airports for Domestic Flights in 2025 🛫📊

If you’ve felt like flights have been a little cheaper lately, you’re not imagining it. A new report from NetCredit breaks down which states and airports offer the best (and worst) domestic flight prices in 2025, and the results are packed with surprises.

Domestic Flight Prices Are Down in 2025

Let’s start with some good news. 41 states saw lower average airfare this year, which means more money left over for things like hotels, excursions, and fancy airport snacks.

Some of the biggest winners:

  • West Virginia: down $75 on average

  • North Dakota: down $66

  • Rhode Island: down $56

  • Massachusetts: down $47

Even bigger states like California, Texas, and Florida saw small drops in airfare.

According to NetCredit, domestic travel is up 3 percent this year. With fewer international visitors, airports are slightly less crowded too.

Cheapest States to Fly From

Based on the average cost of domestic flights, these five states are the most budget-friendly for flyers:

  1. Hawaii. Average airfare cost $287.79

  2. New Jersey. Average airfare cost $308.70

  3. Florida. Average airfare cost $325.25

  4. Arizona. Average airfare cost $329.90

  5. Rhode Island. Average airfare cost $342.28

Yes, Hawaii is #1. It’s not just about flying to the islands, flying out of them is surprisingly affordable too.

The Cheapest Airports in the US

These airports have the lowest average domestic flight prices:

  1. Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB). Average airfare cost $129.99

  2. St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE). Average airfare cost $132.18

  3. Punta Gorda Airport (PGD). Average airfare cost $142.09

  4. Phoenix–Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA). Average airfare cost $153.92

  5. Atlantic City International Airport (ACY). Average airfare cost $167.88
