If you’ve ever wished you could step into Buddy the Elf’s world, this is your chance. Elf’d Up in Chicago’s Wrigleyville is a holiday pop-up bar bursting with Christmas cheer from every corner. With walls decked in twinkling lights, wreath chandeliers, candy-cane stripes, and hundreds of elf cutouts, it’s the kind of place that could make even the Grinch grin. Don’t be a cotton-headed ninny muggins. Get yourself on the Nice List and join the fun.
Opening November 8, Elf’d Up transforms Stretch Bar & Grill into a full-blown tribute to the beloved Christmas movie Elf. Picture walking through the seven levels of the Candy Cane Forest and landing in a bar that feels straight out of Buddy’s imagination. Expect glowing lights, upside-down Christmas trees, snowflakes, wall quotes, and movie references hidden in every corner.
There’s no cover charge, and everyone’s welcome. Kids under 21 can visit early in the day (before 6 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 1 p.m. Friday–Sunday), so even the littlest elves can join in the fun.
Picture courtesty of Elf'd Up
The Elf’d Up menu fully commits to the theme. Try Buddy’s Breakfast Pasta, spaghetti topped with maple syrup, chocolate fudge, and mini marshmallows (and yes, it’s actually good). Other favorites include Papa Elf’s Mac & Cheese, Arctic Puffin’s Fish Tacos, and the Buddy Burger, served with crispy onion strings and avocado.
Every table comes stocked with the “four main food groups,” and guests are treated to complimentary elf-shaped cookies every night at 10 p.m.
The cocktails are as playful as the theme. Sip a Son of a Nutcracker (bourbon, cinnamon sugar rim, and plenty of cheer), a Yule Mule, or the warm Naughty or Spice, made with bourbon and apple cider. For something cozy, try a spiked hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows, or go big with a 36-ounce Elf Boot beer.
Yes, that Buddy. The cheerful elf himself makes regular appearances Thursday through Sunday, giving out hugs, taking photos, and reminding everyone that “the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”
Looking to host a holiday party that’s anything but ordinary? Elf’d Up offers private party bookings for groups from 20 to 200 guests, with customizable food and drink packages. They even offer full-bar buyouts for big groups looking to make spirits bright.
