While many of us dream of visiting the Netherlands' world-famous tulip fields, there are five incredible festivals right here in North America where you can experience the beauty of tulips—four of which are in the U.S., so no passport is required. One is just over the border in Ottawa, Canada, making it an easy trip from the U.S. for a quick floral getaway!

1. Skagit Valley Tulip Festival – Washington State

Dates: April 1 – April 30, 2025

Located in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is North America’s largest tulip festival and a must-visit for any flower lover. 2. Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival – Lehi, Utah

If you're craving a world-class tulip experience without leaving the country, look no further than Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival in Lehi, Utah. This festival is a masterpiece in bloom, featuring over 250,000 tulips and 500,000 other spring flowers, making it the largest and most popular tulip event in Utah.

The Ashton Gardens hosts this month-long festival, which also includes a Tulip 5K, art classes like watercolor painting and flower arranging, and even an Electric Golf Cart Tour led by a horticulturist. In 2022, Thanksgiving Point set a Guinness World Record for the most bulbs planted in an hour, with more than 41,000 bulbs planted in just 60 minutes! The festival also boasts a specially created tulip, the “Tulipa Thanksgiving Point”, a bright yellow flower with a lovely fragrance.

3. Tulip Time Festival – Holland, Michigan

For a dose of Dutch culture and tulip beauty, head to Holland, Michigan, where the Tulip Time Festival transforms the city into a colorful canvas of blooming flowers each May. Known for its grand parades, this festival is one of the largest and most vibrant tulip celebrations in North America. The streets come alive with Dutch dancers in traditional wooden shoes, parades featuring elaborate floats, and plenty of family-friendly activities.

But it’s not all about flowers. Visitors can also enjoy a floral immersion experience at the Tulip Immersion Garden, where you can walk among 50,000 tulips and learn about the flower’s history from its origins in Turkey to its rise to fame in the Netherlands. Be sure to visit Windmill Island Gardens, home to 150,000 tulips and the only working Dutch windmill in the U.S.

The farm offers a variety of fun activities, including live music every weekend, a Farmers & Makers Market, food trucks, and even a petting zoo where you can meet farm animals like goats, mini donkeys, and a calf named MOOnshine. There are also horse-drawn carriage and pony rides on weekends, making it a great stop for families.

5. Canadian Tulip Festival – Ottawa, Ontario

Just over the border in Canada, Ottawa hosts the Canadian Tulip Festival, the world’s largest tulip festival, with over 1 million tulips in full bloom along the beautiful Rideau Canal.
