If you've had it with US prices and cold winters, you could actually be rewarded with a heap of cash for deciding to move.

The village of Ponga in the northern region of Spain enjoys 2,000 hours of sunshine each year and is paying €2,970 ($3,253) for EVERY person that decides to move there. So this includes children and babies.

If you want somewhere cooler, in the northwest region of Galicia, the village of Rubia is paying €1,827 ($2,001) per year to move there. This works out at around $166-a-month, a decent amount considering living costs in Rubia are far less than those in various parts of the US.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the money in Ponga you must agree to stay in the town for at least five years. To be eligible in Galicia the scheme is designed to boost the number of families in the area, so children will need to attend local schools.

What's Nearby?

In Ponga, you can travel to Costa Verge for beach fun and Gijon for a city break. Meanwhile, for those wanting to live in Rubia, you can do a long road trip to Porto or stay local and explore the hiking trails like Mirador de Orellán.
