The Italian government has launched a new initiative that is offering financial incentives to people willing to move to one of Italy's many charming, less-populated towns. In a nutshell, the Tuscany Region of Italy is offering up to €30,000 ($31,150) to people who move to a small mountain town in Tuscany. The program is called Residenzialità in Montagna, which translates to Residency in the Mountains.

Applicants must be either Italian citizens, EU citizens or non-EU citizens holding a long-term residence permit, and they need to commit to registering as residents in an Italian town. Fear not, for those moving to Italy as an American, you can apply for the permit while applying for the initiative, so you're still in with a shot!
