There are dream jobs, and then there are jobs where Snoop Dogg pays you $10,000 a month to travel around eating ice cream.
And before you start questioning everything about your current career path, yes, this one is real.
Snoop Dogg's Dr. Bombay ice cream brand is hiring its first International Ice Cream Taster, and applications are open to people around the world. The successful applicant will spend three months hunting down interesting frozen desserts, spotting food trends, creating content, and reporting their findings back to Snoop and his team.
The job pays $30,000 total, split into $10,000 a month across a three-month contract.
Applications close September 17, after opening back on August 27.
More than 200,000 people have applied, turning the listing into a full-blown recruitment event.
Only three requirements exist, speaking English, holding a valid passport, and being free for the full three months.
No culinary background is required, the brand wants curiosity and personality over credentials.
Deel handles hiring and payment, converting pay into the winner's local currency.
Snoop personally calls the winner, according to the official listing.
The idea traces back to Snoop's father, who grew up on a Mississippi dairy farm.
Despite what the title suggests, this isn't three months on a couch with a freezer full of pints and an occasional thumbs-up emoji to Snoop. Although that would be a remarkably efficient business model.
The role is really part food scout, part trend researcher, part content creator, and part professional ice cream enthusiast. Dr. Bombay wants its taster exploring cities and cultures, tracking down unusual desserts and flavor combinations, and flagging which food trends might be worth chasing next.
The person hired will also share discoveries with the Dr. Bombay team, produce social-first content along the way, and contribute ideas for future flavors and campaigns. Most notably, they'll have a real hand in helping Snoop pick his next flavor, which means "I influence Snoop Dogg's ice cream decisions" could technically become a résumé line.
This might be the best part: you don't need to be a chef or professional food critic.
The company specifically says it is interested in creators, foodies, marketers, students, entrepreneurs, journalists, chefs, and people with unconventional backgrounds. What matters more is whether you're curious about food, good at spotting trends, comfortable with social media, adventurous, and capable of turning something as simple as a scoop of ice cream into a story people actually want to hear.
There are only three official non-negotiables:
You need to speak English
You need a valid passport
You need to be available for the full three months
What matters more is whether you're curious about food, quick to spot trends, comfortable on social media, adventurous, and able to turn a scoop of ice cream into a story worth telling. Extra languages count as a bonus, and there's no geographic restriction at all.
If getting paid to travel around eating ice cream wasn't enough, the paycheck makes this job even harder to ignore.
The International Ice Cream Taster will earn $10,000 USD per month for three months, bringing the total value of the contract to $30,000. The position is technically an independent-contractor role rather than a traditional salaried job, but that's still a pretty impressive monthly paycheck for someone whose responsibilities include tracking down interesting frozen desserts.
The person hired will be paid by Dr. Bombay through Deel, with payments deposited into their local bank account and converted into local currency where needed.
Because it's an independent-contractor position, taxes and employment requirements will depend on where the successful applicant lives. But regardless of the paperwork, $10,000 a month to travel, taste ice cream, and report back to Snoop Dogg is going to be a difficult job listing to beat.
Apparently, people are quite receptive to being paid to travel and eat ice cream.
Who knew?
Deel says the campaign has already attracted more than 200,000 applications from around the world, turning what was already a pretty unusual job listing into a genuinely massive recruitment campaign. The response was so big that the official application site temporarily displayed a message saying it was having a little "meltdown" from the volume of applications. As of September 10, however, Deel still says applications are open, and the official application remains live.
And somebody does eventually have to get hired.
According to Inc., Deel plans to narrow the enormous applicant pool to 50 candidates, with the top 20 then moving forward to meet the Dr. Bombay team. Applications are screened for eligibility before finalists advance.
Interestingly, the ice cream connection isn't completely random.
According to the company, Snoop's father grew up on a dairy farm in Mississippi where ice cream was hand-churned. Years later, Snoop built his own memories around ice cream, regularly stopping for it with his son Cordell Broadus after practices. Snoop eventually turned that family connection into Dr. Bombay, which launched its first ice cream collection in 2023. The brand's name and mascot come from Dr. Bombay, a character based on a Bored Ape NFT owned by Snoop.
And these aren't exactly your standard chocolate-and-vanilla pints.
Current and past flavors have included Iced Out Orange Cream, S'more Vibes, Syrupy Waffle Sundaze, Baked Blueberry Muffin, Peanut Butter Jelly Time, and Strawberry Cream Dream. The brand frequently combines ice cream with sherbet, fruit, sauces, cookies, and other mix-ins.
Which explains why they might want someone roaming the planet looking for whatever dessert combination the rest of us haven't thought of yet.
Applications opened on August 27 and are scheduled to remain open through September 17, 2026, so there is still time if you've suddenly realized all those vacation gelato stops were actually professional development. You can apply directly through Deel's official Dr. Bombay hiring page:
The application process can include interviews and role-related assessments. Deel also says automated and AI-assisted tools may be used during candidate evaluation, but human oversight is maintained and final hiring decisions are made by people.
Given the size of the applicant pool, a résumé that just says "I really like Ben & Jerry's" probably won't cut it.
Somebody is going to spend three months earning $10,000 a month to travel, eat frozen desserts, and help decide Dr. Bombay's next flavor. No culinary degree is required, and living outside the US isn't a disqualifier. What it takes is a passport, a decent palate, an eye for what's catching on, and enough personality to make a case that your opinions about ice cream are worth $30,000. Applications close September 17.
