How to Make Economy Feel Like First Class 💺 🛎️

Are you one of those people who can't justify spending thousands of more dollars on a first class or even business class flight, but often struggle to get comfortable in economy and dread specifically those long-haul flights? We've compiled a few tips below to elevate your economy class experience to a first-class feeling.

Gather Your Supplies

We recommend you consider purchasing some, if not all, of the following items to make your time in economy much more relaxing

Travel Accessories

  • Foot Hammock: If the lack of leg space in economy gets the best of you (it surely does even for shorter passengers). This small and affordable tool might be a life saver for you. You can easily strap it to your tray table in front of you and it's super compact. We've found this tool on sites like Amazon, for as low as $10.

  • Ear Stabilizers: To help your ears with the air pressure from take off and landing. It also blocks out some of the noise.

  • Bluetooth Transmitter: Long gone are the days where headphones had actual auxiliary cords, and we all know the basic headphones they provide on flights are of the worst quality. Consider purchasing a bluetooth transmitter, which plugs right into the aux cord socket on your inflight entertainment and serves as a discoverable bluetooth source that you can connect your wireless headphones to.

  • Neck Pillow: Probably the most important item to have on your list. Avoid your head bobbing during your flight and get some restful sleep.

Comfortable Clothes & Beauty Essentials

Clothes

  • Cozy Loungewear: For the utmost comfort on your flight.

  • Compression Socks: To keep your feet from swelling on your flights.

  • Dress in Layers: Saves room in the suticase by wearing your bulkiest items. You can add or remove layers to suit the temperature on your flight.

  • Slippers With a Plastic or Rubber Sole: No one and I mean, NO ONE, wants you take your shoes off during a flight. It's unpleasant for those who have to share the small enclosed space with you on an airplane. Opt to pack extra slippers, specifically ones with rubber or plastic soles, so you don't need to stress about them getting dirty, if you need to use the restroom during the flight.

  • Rollable Flats: Alternatively, to save more bag space, you can purchase rollable flats that become super compact, wear your bulky shoes at the airport to get past the desk agents, then change into these flats when you get on the flight.

Beauty Essentials

  • Sheet Masks: Helps prevent breakouts on the flight and leaves skin smooth and hydrated.

  • Collagan Eye Masks: Keeps your eyes from looking tired and getting puffy when on a flight.

  • Listerine Strips: Keeping your breath fresh and mouth from going dry on the flight.

  • Hair Rollers: Alternatively, a soft headband that you can wrap your hair around.

No In-Flight Entertainment? No Problem

Entertainment

  • Audiobooks: Consider getting an audible description. Avoid having to worry about disrupting your neighbor with the overhead light. You can download books to listen to off Wifi.

  • Offline Messaging: Separated from your travel companion? You can download Bridgefy and connect via Bluetooth to anyone via 300 feet from you.

  • Spotify or Other Music Streaming Apps: With apps like Spotify, you can create playlists filled with your favorite songs and download your music ahead of your trip. If you don't have a lot of motivation to create a playlist and are looking for more song options, consider downloading your "Discover Weekly" playlist which is a Spotify provided list of new songs based on your preferences.

  • Download Netflix or Other Streaming Platforms: A lot of popular streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, allow you to download shows to watch later without internet.

Feast & Drink Like a King (Or Queen)

Drinks

  • Mini Cocktail Kits: Come in the size of a mint container, could be paired with the alcohol served on board.

  • Electrolytes: Airplanes with their recycled air tend to be the easiest place to contract a cold. Pack electrolytes in a powdered or tablet form then grab a water on board or at the airport to drop it into. This hopefully help you stay hydrated and provide some vitamins to combat a cold.

Food

  • Charcuterie in a Bento Box: Pack cheese, crackers, jam, and dried/cured meats to enjoy on board and put them in a bento box for easy access. Alternatively, you can make yourself an adults twist on a Lunchable.

  • A Good Bar of Chocolate: Chocolate is important. Enough said.
