Here is exactly how you can stretch those 11 days of annual leave into a massive 43 days of vacation in 2027.
New Year’s Day 2027 falls on a Friday, January 1st, giving you an automatic three-day weekend to kick off the year. You can avoid touching your PTO, but we recommend making it a grand four-day weekend. Just request Thursday, December 31st (New Year's Eve) off.

Even if you just enjoyed some time off for New Year's, Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 18th offers the perfect excuse for another quick getaway. By taking just one PTO day on Tuesday, January 19th, you can turn this into a four-day weekend. We highly recommend taking the Tuesday off instead of the preceding Friday. Traveling on a Tuesday means you’ll dodge the heavy holiday weekend crowds and score much better deals on flights and hotel bookings.

If you're looking for inspiration, consider Yoho National Park in Canada, a great alternative to Banff with fewer crowds, plus this is a good time to visit as the weather is transitioning into summer, but you'll save big on accommodation compared to peak summer travel months.

Stay stateside to soak up the incredible energy and local celebrations happening all across the country. When it comes to the 4th of July, you really can’t go wrong anywhere in America. Perhaps you can venture to Idaho an Iceland dupe with hot springs, volcanic landscapes, geysers, and waterfalls.

Labor Day falls on Monday, September 6th this year. By taking the following Tuesday, September 7th off, you can stretch the holiday into another relaxing four-day weekend. It’s the perfect time to take advantage of the late-summer fair season across the country. Alternatively, consider an end-of-summer trip to southern California and visit Catalina Island by ferry which is a good passport-free dupe to Spain or Italy.

In October, we are going to pause on taking anymore PTO off and we are going to enjoy an automatic three-day weekend from having Monday, October 11th off for Indigenous Peoples' Day. This allows for the perfect little Halloween escape! You can easily do a trip around the Northeast or the Pacific Northwest visiting top Halloween destinations like Salem, St. Helens, Sleepy Hollow, or Forks.

Looking for suggestions on where to travel in October?
Veteran's Day is a public holiday on Thursday, November 11th so, we are going to take Friday, November 12th off and make it a four-day weekend. Grab a sleeper train from Winnipeg up to Churchill in northern Manitoba and catch the northern lights from the glass dome viewing car.
🗓️ Thursday, November 11th to Sunday, November 14th
Every year Thanksgiving is on the last Thursday of November landing on Thursday, November 25th next year. Take Friday, November 26th off as well and extend your vacation through the weekend, grabbing another four-day trip to spend with family. Or opt for an alternative foodie destination like New Orleans or down to Mexico.
