If you’ve ever eaten room service in a hotel bathrobe while mentally writing a review of the thread count, Hotels.com has a job opening with your name on it. The travel booking platform has announced three dream positions as part of its new campaign, and while they are not technically jobs, the $5,000 Hotels.com gift card that comes with winning one of them is very real.
Hotels.com has launched a new campaign built around a surprisingly simple idea: things should be exactly what they sound like. To prove it, they’ve created three “jobs” that are as literal as possible.
You can apply to be:
A Room Service Critic
A Hotel Robe Researcher
A Hotel Gym Rater
If you are the Room Service Critic, your job is to critique room service. That means ordering without hesitation, timing how long it takes to arrive, and deciding whether the fries are still crisp or have entered that slightly tragic, lukewarm phase. You are also quietly judging presentation, portion size, and whether eating in bed somehow made it taste better.
If you take on the role of Hotel Robe Researcher, your responsibilities are less about data and more about instinct. You slip into the robe, adjust the tie, and immediately know whether this is something you would happily live in or something you would take off within five minutes. You are evaluating softness, weight, and, most importantly, whether it crosses that invisible line into “I briefly considered taking this home.”
And if you are the Hotel Gym Rater, you are the person who actually uses the hotel gym instead of just walking past it. You are testing the equipment, noticing whether anything feels slightly off, and deciding if the space feels energizing or like a room that was designed as an afterthought. Bonus points if you can determine whether the treadmill view makes the workout easier or just reminds you that you could be somewhere else.
According to Hotels.com, the whole point is to strip away complexity. Booking a hotel should be straightforward, and so should the experience around it.
To be absolutely clear, these positions are not full-time roles. This is a contest.
Three winners will each receive a $5,000 Hotels.com gift card to use on hotel stays. In return, they will test their assigned specialty and report back, either through reviews or social media. You are essentially being asked to travel, pay attention, and have opinions.

These roles are less about formal qualifications and more about genuine enthusiasm. Hotels.com is looking for travelers who:
Already love staying in hotels
Have strong opinions about the small details
Actually notice things like towel quality, gym setups, or how long it takes room service to arrive
Each role leans into a different kind of personality. The Room Service Critic is someone who believes the best meals happen in a hotel bed. The Robe Researcher cares deeply about fabric, fit, and softness. The Gym Rater is the person who still works out on vacation and judges a hotel by its dumbbells.
Applications are open now and close March 24, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
To apply, you need to:
Be at least 21 years old
Be based in the United States
Submit a short application explaining why you are the right fit
Winners will be notified by the end of April.
You’re not changing careers here, but you might get paid to do something you already do on vacation. If you’ve ever ordered dessert just because it was on the menu, lingered a little too long deciding whether a robe was worth taking home, or quietly judged a hotel by the view from its treadmill, this is a rare chance to turn those instincts into something official. And for once, the job description tells you exactly what you’re signing up for.
No. These are contest prizes. Three winners will each receive a $5,000 Hotels.com gift card. They are not employment positions and Hotels.com is not hiring for these roles.
Each of the three winners receives a $5,000 Hotels.com gift card to use toward hotel stays.
