Finland has been named the happiest country on Earth for eight years running, and now the Finnish tourism board wants to prove it. Visit Finland just launched a giveaway called the "Chill Like a Finn — 7 Day Challenge," and they're looking for six pairs of travelers to win a fully paid, week-long road trip through the country's stunning Lakeland region this June. If your idea of a vacation involves saunas, crystal-clear lakes, and zero crowds, this one is worth paying attention to. The deadline to apply is March 29.
For the eighth year in a row, Finland topped the UN's World Happiness Report, which ranks countries based on factors like mental health, healthy life expectancy, freedom, and income. It's not a fluke. Finnish culture is built around a genuine relationship with nature, simplicity, and the kind of slow living that most Americans only experience on vacation — if they're lucky.
This giveaway is essentially Finland's way of letting a handful of people experience that firsthand, at no cost.
While many tourists head straight for Helsinki or Lapland, the Finnish locals know that true relaxation happens in the Lakeland region (or Järvi-Suomi). As Europe's largest lake district, it’s an off-the-beaten-path paradise filled with endless forests, crystal-clear water, and traditional country cabins.
If selected, you and your travel buddy will be flown to Finland from June 11 to June 18, 2026. You'll get a rental car and an itinerary designed to teach you the Finnish art of happiness, which is all about embracing space, silence, and slow living.
Expect the ultimate summer "coolcation" featuring:
Unwinding in traditional wood-fired saunas followed by a plunge into refreshing lakes.
Feasting on incredible, fresh local food
Getting active in the great outdoors with kayaking, river rafting, paddleboarding, and cycling
Sleeping in gorgeous accommodations tucked away in nature
Before you pack your bags, make sure you and your plus-one meet the requirements:
You both must be at least 18 years old.
You must apply as a duo (friends, couples, siblings—just no brands or companies).
You both need to be comfortable speaking English, being filmed, and sharing your journey online.
At least one of you must hold a valid driver’s license (this is a road trip, after all!).
The application process is completely free and requires just a little bit of creativity:
Grab your partner and film a video: Create a short clip introducing yourselves and answering one simple question: "What do you imagine a Finnish summer holiday in Lakeland looking like?"
Post it to social media: Upload your video to a public Instagram or TikTok account. You must use the hashtag #ChillLikeAFinn. Don't forget to tag Visit Finland (@ourfinland on Instagram or @visitfinland.com on TikTok).
Submit the official form: Head over to the Visit Finland website, fill out their quick application form, and drop in the link to your social media post so they can find your entry.
You have until 11:59 PM (EEST) on Sunday, March 29, 2026, to enter. The winning pairs will be contacted personally in April.
Visit Finland, the country's official tourism board, is running the giveaway as part of their "Chill Like a Finn — 7 Day Challenge" campaign.
Six pairs of travelers, twelve people total, will win the all-expenses-paid trip.
The application deadline is 11:59 PM EEST on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
Winners will travel to Finland from June 11 to June 18, 2026.
The prize covers round-trip flights, a rental car, accommodations, and a full itinerary through the Finnish Lakeland region.
The trip focuses on the Lakeland region, also known as Järvi-Suomi, which is Europe's largest lake district.
The requirements don't restrict by nationality. You need to be at least 18, apply as a duo, be comfortable speaking English and being filmed, and have at least one valid driver's license between you.
Film a short video answering the prompt, post it to public Instagram or TikTok with #ChillLikeAFinn while tagging Visit Finland, then submit the official form on the Visit Finland website with your post link.
