American Airlines is celebrating a century of flight, and it wants to take you along for the ride. As part of its 2026 centennial, the airline is giving away 100,000 AAdvantage miles each to 100 lucky winners. That's 10 million miles total up for grabs. You don't need to buy anything to enter, but if you're already planning a trip, there's a way to stack the odds in your favor.
The sweepstakes runs from April 15 through April 30, and any AAdvantage member can enter for free at aa100sweeps.com. Here's how it works:
Enter once per day at aa100sweeps.com for up to 16 free entries over the two-week window.
Book a flight between April 15 and April 30 and enter your confirmation code to receive 100 bonus entries per trip.
Book up to four separate trips to unlock the maximum 400 bonus entries.
If you've been sitting on the fence about booking summer travel, this is a genuinely reasonable nudge. The entry process is simple, the prize is substantial, and the deadline gives you a clear window to act.
A hundred thousand AAdvantage miles is a meaningful haul. Depending on the route and class of service, that can cover a round-trip business class flight to Europe or several domestic trips with miles to spare. Miles can also be redeemed for upgrades, gift cards, and other perks. The program has grown well beyond flights since launching in 1981 as the world’s first frequent flyer program.
For context, a typical domestic round trip in economy usually requires around 20,000 to 30,000 miles, so 100,000 gives you real flexibility. If you are not sure how to use them yet, there is no rush. Miles do not expire as long as your account remains active.
American Airlines traces its roots to an airmail carrier operating in the Midwest in 1926, which puts this year right at the hundred-year mark. The airline has been marking the milestone with events, promotions, and the “Forever Forward” branding you have likely seen across its communications.
That century-long history includes a surprising number of industry firsts: the first scheduled air cargo service, the first airport lounge that set the standard for those that followed, and the first frequent flyer program. The AAdvantage program turns 45 this year, which is practically middle-aged by human standards and ancient by airline loyalty program standards.
American flies to more than 350 destinations across 60 countries, so deciding how to use 100,000 miles is not a small task. For summer travel, the airline offers nonstop routes to cities like Budapest, Prague, Naples, and Athens, all of which could fit comfortably within a business class redemption. Tokyo via Haneda or Narita is another strong option if Japan has been on your list.
Closer to home, American has extensive access to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America, including destinations like South Caicos and Ocho Rios alongside the usual favorites.
That kind of flexibility is what makes this prize especially appealing, even if long-haul travel is not your usual style. The miles can go just as far on domestic trips too.
The sweepstakes closes at 11:59 p.m. CT on April 30. Entrants must be U.S. residents aged 18 or older, or 19 in Alabama or Nebraska, and AAdvantage members at the time of entry. Entry is free and open to all members, with no purchase required.
If you are not already an AAdvantage member, signing up is free and only takes a few minutes. You would still have time to take advantage of daily entries before the deadline.
Head to aa100sweeps.com to enter, and check back each day to use your free entries before the window closes.
