Ahoy pirates!

Travel is becoming increasingly challenging, and some countries are already tightening their entry rules. If you're already planning your next trip, we've got a whole bunch of inspiration to travel locally for you.

I have listed 8 of the most colorful places here in the USA for an unforgettable staycation.

If you have questions about entry, the situation on the ground, or suggestions for the article, ask me in the comments.

Destination

  • United States

Details

1. Wynwood, Miami - Florida

We start in Miami, Florida, with a street art classic. In Wynwood, graffiti and colorful murals paint the streets with lively colors.

You can also visit Wynwood Walls, an outdoor museum in the former warehouse district that has brought graffiti and the street art genre from all over the world to Miami since 2009.

----------------

2. Yellowstone National Park - Wyoming

Yellowstone National Park is the first place to have been given the title of a national park in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the largest national parks in the USA, and it is famous for its geothermal springs, of which there are almost 10,000.

In the photo, you can see the Giant Prismatic Spring; the largest hot spring in the United States.

----------------

3. Cadillac Ranch, Amarillo - Texas

The next place will probably be familiar to many who have ever dealt with Route 66. Everyone who takes the route from Chicago to Los Angeles passes by here.

The installation, consisting of ten old Cadillacs sunk nose-first into the ground, has been around since 1974.

It's almost a tradition to arm yourself with spray paint and leave your mark in one of these cars.

4. Skagit Valley - Washington

How where what - Skagit Valley? This place is probably known to few. Nevertheless, it deserves a place on this list. True to the motto "whatever the Dutch can do, the USA can do as just as well," there are large fields of tulips stretching as far as the eyes can see and just as breathtaking as any of the ones in the Netherlands.

If you are looking for a stunning picture but don't want other ten people in the background, this is the place for you.

The Skagit Valley is about 50 minutes north of Seattle.

----------------

5. Seven Magic Mountains, Las Vegas - Nevada

This colorful place, contrary to its name, has nothing to do with a "Mountain."

The art installation was built by the Swiss artist "Ugo Rondinone" and looks like a surreal and extraterrestrial installation in the middle of nowhere.

Anyone taking the road to Las Vegas should definitely stop here; the entrance is free.

6. Artists Palette, Death Valley - California

"Death Valley," or rather Death Valley National Park, is definitely one of the most remote places in the world. It's a life-threatening desert, in which it is not uncommon to have temperatures around 122 degrees or more.

Why exactly should this be one of the most colorful places in the USA?! The Artists Palette offers a stunning array of colors, coming from volcanic deposits, painting the hills.

----------------

7. Salvation Mountain, Slab City - California

Salvation Mountain is an art installation on a hill near Slab City in Southern California. It is made of straw, clay, and paint. The artist hoped that in his work, he could spread the idea that "God is Love."

You should plan your route well if you want to see this installation, as the place is quite remote.

Close by; you can find Bombay Beach, an El Dorado for photographers, with car wrecks and abandoned houses everywhere.

----------------

8. Rainbow Row, Charleston - South Carolina

It is just a very small area on a street in Charleston, South Carolina. Thirteen historic houses painted in different pastel colors, influenced by similar places around the Caribbean.

Southern flair PUR!

If you know any other colorful places in the USA, please write them in the comments and I will add them to the list. Otherwise, I hope to have given you some colorful inspiration in the gray winter.

Have fun, pirates! Yours, Marc.

As you can easily see, this picture was taken in Austin. The murals here make it a very colorful as well.

----------------

Bonus Round. Bentonite Hills - Utah

The Bentonite Hills are located in the Cathedral Valley, Utah.

At first look, they might seem a little plain with very faint colors; but during the 'blue hour' with very few rays of light left, the hills come to life with vibrant colors that will make you doubt if somehow you are not on Mars.
