We love a good film at TravelPirates, and Wes Anderson is one of our fave quirky directors โ€” having made Isle of Dogs, Moonrise Kingdom and The Darjeeling Limited to name a few.

We've heard that the director himself has made over a 1950s British Pullman train carriage to coincide with his new movie, The French Dispatch โ€“ and the style is everything you'd expect from the distinctive visual filmmaker.

Details

Departing from London Victoria station (in the United Kingdom), the luxury train the British Pullman is a slice of history in itself. With coaches dating back to the 1920s, the train previously used to carry important statesmen and even survived World War II bomb raids.

Inside the train, Wes Anderson had given the Cygnus carriage a special makeover. Built in the 1950s, the Cygnus carriage is named after the Greek god of Balance, personified as a beautiful swan โ€“ echoes of which you can see in the elegant decor of the woodwork and design throughout.

In typical Wes Anderson fashion, the carriage is gorgeously symmetrical, uses bold colors of emerald green and a pop of pink on the ceiling of the carriage.

The train stops at various destinations as it glides elegantly through the English countryside. Enjoy a dinner hosted by Michelin-starred chef Raymond Blanc, a round trip from London with accompanied by a tradition British Sunday Roast, or stop by the historic city Bath.

We are a little obsessed with the symmetry and colors here.

This is actually the private coupe, with special glassware and crockery chosen specifically for this experience.

Tickets start from around $600 per person -โ€“ for true fans of Wes Anderson (or train travel) this once-in-a-lifetime experience is sure to be worth it.
