There's an island in the Outerbanks of North Carolina where the residents carry brogue British Accents dating back to the Elizabethen times. This is truly a unique place that has been untouched by time in that respect. We recommend flying into Raleigh or Greenville and driving up to two hours to Swan Quarter and then grabbing a $15 ferry to Ocracoke Island. Alternatively, you can fly to New Bern and grab a ferry from Cedar Island also for only $15. We've provided a great-value hotel option on the island from $148 a night. No need to travel all the way to Europe when you can get a taste of the UK here in the US.

*Please note that this unique accent is slowly starting to disappear, and not every resident has it, but you still may come across it, especially with the older residents of the island.
