Stay at One of New England’s Most Famous Haunted Hotels
Set against New Hampshire’s White Mountains, this grand resort has been welcoming guests since 1902, including, according to legend, one who never left. Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa (Winner of the 2026 Traveler's Choice Aware and rated 4/5 on Tripadvisor) is one of the most iconic hotels in New England, known for its mountain views, ski access, hidden speakeasy, and resident ghost story.
Guests have reportedly spotted Princess Carolyn, the widow of the hotel’s original owner, wandering the halls near Room 314, her former private suite. We found winter rates from $319 per night in January and $309 in February, making the coldest months the best time to check in and see whether she makes an appearance.
🏴☠️ Pirate Tip: This resort is stunning in every season. The Fourth of July here, with fireworks over the White Mountains, is hard to beat. Fall brings some of the best foliage in New England right to your doorstep. Spring fills the grounds with wildflowers. And in winter, the ski slopes and the world-famous spa make it the perfect mountain escape. There's really no bad time to go.
We’ve highlighted the best dates we found for each month below. Want to travel at a different time? Just change the date range on Trivago.
The hotel is worth visiting even without the ghost stories. Inside, you’ll find a grand lobby, an enormous ballroom where music has reportedly played on its own, and The Cave, a Prohibition-era speakeasy hidden inside the resort.
Outside, you can ski at Bretton Woods, ride the gondola through the White Mountains, zip line above the trees, or settle onto the veranda with a drink and one of the best views in New Hampshire. Travelers who want the full haunted-hotel experience can even book Room 314, better known as the Princess Room.
