Fairmont Le Château Montebello isn’t famous because it’s a Fairmont; it’s famous because it’s the largest log cabin ever built. Rates start from $243 per night, making it one of the more unique stays we’ve found in Canada.

Set along the Ottawa River between Montreal and Ottawa, the resort is surrounded by nature and offers everything from horseback riding and kayaking to dog sledding and cross-country skiing, depending on the season. Step inside and you’ll immediately see why it’s so well known, with its massive stone fireplace and soaring timber lobby.

🏴‍☠️ Pirate Tip: If you’re already making the trip, don’t skip Parc Omega. It’s only a few minutes away, and driving through while bison, elk, and other wildlife wander right up to your car is an experience that’s genuinely hard to find anywhere else in North America.
