A Geodesic Hut in Northern Iceland with Windows on the Ceilings from $115 a Night
from $115
Thirty minutes north of Akureyri—the largest city in Northern Iceland, you'll find a remote geodisic hut surrounded by snowcap mountains and flowing rivers. This accommodation offers a unique experience allowing you to get amazing views of the aurora borealis that's frequently seen in the north during the winter months.
The dome has a large king bed, along with two chairs, a toaster, kettle, coffee maker, and cutlery. The one thing to note is that running water is a little scarce and the toilet is located in a separate shed outside and nearby to the hut.
The area is perfect for exploring and in one of the most northernpoints of Iceland. Akureyri is a short car ride or bus journey from Iceland's largest city in the north, Akureyri. You can also grab the nearby ferry to take a trip to the island of Hrísey and whale watch along the way!
Rates for a nightly stay start at $115 a night, however, this price does include Airbnb taxes and fees. In total, you'll pay $134—Still a great deal considering accommodations in Iceland are quite expensive and average $200+ a night.
