How cute is this? In Switzerland, after a beautiful summer of frolicking in the Alps, the happy Swiss cows are greeted with celebration upon their return to their barns, where they'll stay for the duration of the cold winter months. Locals celebrate the "return of the cattle" in late September with parades, drinks, live music, and traditional Swiss clothing. The best part, in my opinion, is that they craft beautiful flower crowns for the cows to wear during their parade down the mountains. This particular event takes place in the village of Plaffein on September 21st.

We found great-value flights to either Geneva (2 hours and 10 minute train ride) or Zurich (2 hours train ride) around the festival date from $445 round trip.
