If you want to explore so many countries and can't decide which corner of the world to head to next, then maybe you should consider a trip around the world!
Pirates, in the past we've provided around-the-world flight journeys, but here's a more environmentally-friendly option that allows you to truly capture the beauty of changing landscapes. A rail travel provider has come up with a very special trip for this purpose:
Around the world in 100 days by train 🚂
The trip is offered by the tour operator Adventures by Train. The tour is called "Around the World by Train in 100 Days" and can be booked now. It is scheduled to depart on March 17, 2026.
Jim Louth, director of Adventures by Train, describes the trip as a perfect blend of world-class train travel with hand-picked, immersive experiences in optimal comfort.
A total of 14 countries are planned for the tour: France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Japan, Canada, and the USA. These include stages through the Alps, sleeper trains in Central Asia, journeys on high-speed trains such as the Shikansen Bullet Train in Japan, and the Zephyr Amtrak route through the Rocky Mountains in California.
Of course, you don't have to spend the entire trip in sleeping cars. The price includes luxury hotels like the Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai or the Shangri-La in Vancouver. And to keep things interesting, there's also an entertainment program: wine tastings in Georgia, classical concerts in Vienna, and street food tours in Kyoto are just a few of the highlights.
In between, you swap the rails for the sea: On the route, you spend 23 days on the North Pacific Passage luxury cruise from Tokyo to Vancouver and a seven-day Atlantic crossing on the Queen Mary 2 from New York to Southampton.
If you want to participate in the tour, you'll not only need to be quick, but also have a full wallet. Only 12 people can participate in the trip – and the price is the equivalent of approximately $150,000 USD per person. Couples receive a discount, paying "only" approximately $119,000 USD per person.
Editor's note: If you have the cash and are seriously considering booking this trip, prepare for potential delays and disruptions, as an around-the-world trip like these could easily experience disruptions on different routes. In other words, always plan for the unexpected!
