The Indonesian government is planning to offer a new visa for Bali, which should create incentives for digital nomads. The visa will be valid for up to 5 years which should enable workers under this scheme to live tax-free on the Indonesian island, provided that the income does not come from Indonesian sources.
The primary aim is not to attract more people to the popular vacation destination, but to make tourism more sustainable.
It is currently not known when the new visa for digital nomads can be applied for and what specific conditions will apply. Currently, there is only the possibility to apply for a temporary visa, which is valid for 60 (tourist visa) or 180 days (business visa) after extension. As soon as we get more information about the qualifications needed to apply, we will update it here.
