The mountain village of Kandersteg is located in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. It requires a few modes of transportation to get there.

First, we recommend you fly into Geneva (alternatively, Milan, Italy or Zurich, Switzerland).

Then grab a train from Geneva to Kandersteg. It's a roughly three-hour journey by train. We recommend looking out for Super Saver Fares on the SBB (Swiss National Rail) Website. We found fares from 21 CHF ≈ $24 USD.

Once in Kandersteg, you'll need to grab a cable car or gondola up to Lake Oeschinen. This will cost roughly 22 CHF ($24.40 USD) for a one-way ticket or we recommend paying 30 CHF ($33.20 USD) for a return ticket. Alternatively, you can hike the mountain for free.

Located just around the corner from the cable car station, you'll find a mountain coaster. This coaster costs 6 CHF ($6.64 USD) for one trip. It offers breathtaking views of the Alps and Kandersteg valley below.

A short hike from the cable car station and mountain coaster, you'll find Oeschinen Lake—a beautiful turquoise lake surrounded by alpine peaks. Here you'll find some rather strange visitors. They do say Swiss cows are happy cows for a reason 🤣.
