Dirty Dancing was set almost entirely Kellerman's Resort, the invented name for the very real and award-winning (4/5 on Tripadvisor and 2025 Travelers' Choice Award Winner) Mountain Lake Lodge, a resort immersed in the greenery of Pembroke, Virginia, in the United States.

The property has been welcoming guests since 1987, and much of it remains remarkably unchanged. The main buildings, outdoor spaces, and even the grounds surrounding the lake still look much like they did decades ago.

Fans will also recognize the wooden gazebo that appears in several scenes throughout the film, including the memorable dance lesson where Johnny teaches Baby the waltz.
