Since the pandemic, the idea of working remotely has been a great selling point for many countries looking to attract travelers and help revitalize the economy.

There are over 50 countries in the world currently offering digital nomad programs, with Japan being the latest on the list.

Details on the Program:

  1. Duration: six months. There's a possibility to re-apply after another six months outside of the country, but not to extend.

  2. The visa will require a yearly salary of ¥10 million (roughly $67,500).

  3. Eligibility: Countries for which Japan has eliminated the need for short-term visas. This includes the US, Australia, and several European countries among others.

  4. There's no restriction on the location. You will be allowed to work anywhere in the country without the need for a visa.

  5. You will be required to hold private health insurance.

  6. Spouses and children of the visa holder will be allowed to stay in Japan.
