The mandatory hotel quarantine after entry has now been abolished, but the entry conditions are not that simple. Similar to when Singapore was opened, many tests have to be carried out on-site in the first few days.
According to a report by the Bloomberg news agency, an unusual measure has been considered in Hong Kong in order to boost idle tourism as quickly as possible: Half a million flight tickets are to be simply given away.
The free tickets are issued for Hong Kong-based airline, Cathay Pacific.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board is providing 2 billion Hong Kong dollars, i.e. around 261 million US dollars, for this purpose. This would result in an average ticket price of around $522, which should also cover long-haul flights (especially if some of the flights cover shorter routes). The tickets were already bought from the airlines as part of an aid program in 2020.
The airport operator Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) is currently working out the details with the airlines. As soon as there is news about this, you will of course find out here with us.

The hotel quarantine, which was necessary a long time after entry, was completely canceled a few days ago. A PCR test is no longer necessary either. Nevertheless, the conditions are still a bit tricky.
However, there are already rumors that further easing could be announced in mid/late October.
