1. Namib-Naukluft, Namibia

It is one of the largest protected protected areas in the world! It was by the union of the Namib Desert National Park and the Mountain Zebra National Park - Naukluft. Here, you can find dunes up to 31 miles long; there are no signs of civilization, and the starry sky is fabulous!

2. Atacama Desert, Chile

This desert sits in one of the world's driest areas! It is in the northern part of Chile, between the Coastal Cordillera and the Western Cordillera. Much of the desert is made up of rocky terrain, salt lakes, and sand, so no matter which part you are in, the views will be unforgettable.

3. Iceland

In Iceland, probably every place is great for stargazing. And, with any luck, you can even go hunting for the Northern Lights!

4. Westhavelland Dark Sky Reserve, Germany

Located just 43 miles west of Berlin, it is the first area in Germany granted star park status. You can see the Milky Way in all its glory in the spectacular night sky above the nature reserve.

5. Tuscany, Italy

Of course, we could not miss a place in this beautiful country, so we chose the starry skies observable from the Tuscan countryside, perhaps from a quaint and isolated farmhouse, waiting for shooting stars in the company of a good glass of wine!

6. Teide Volcano, Tenrife, Spain

Far from the lights of European metropolises at an altitude of over one mile is the Teide Volcano Astronomical Observatory in Tenerife, from which to enjoy unique views of the sky and the island!

7. Wadi Rum, Jordan

A night in the Wadi Rum desert is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, especially because its landscape resembles Mars. We recommend spending the night in one of the Bedouin camps to admire the star-filled sky.

8. Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

Equally otherworldly and unique is stargazing from the Salar de Uyuni Desert in Bolivia, located at an altitude of over two miles. Instead of sand, all around you will have expanses of salt stretching to the horizon, creating fantastic formations. On the site, you will find many travel agencies specializing in expeditions to this desert.

9. Sahara Desert

The Sahara is the largest desert in the world and is definitely one of the best places in the world for stargazing, perhaps after a dromedary ride, sipping mint tea with your Berber guide!

10. Norway

To see a fabulous starry sky, you can take a cruise along the Norwegian coast to beyond the polar circle, with a chance to see the northern lights as well!
